Gas pipeline between Városföld – Slobodnica DN800 PN75
Managements of Plinacro (Croatia) and FGSZ Ltd. held regular negotiations both in 2007 and 2008 on the inter-connection of their transmission systems. The parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding on May 31, 2007, then an Agreement on Cooperation on July 3, 2008 regarding the construction of a natural gas transmission pipeline between Városföld and Slobodnica.
Key technical parameters of the pipeline: 800 mm DN, 75 bar pressure, length in Hungary 205 km, and in Croatia 88 km. Maximum capacity of the pipeline is 19.2 million m3/day.
As part of the project international measuring stations are constructed at Drávaszerdahely and Donji Miholjac. The project involves the expansion of the Városföld compressor station and nod and the construction of the Báta compressor station. Three gas turbine driven compressors of 7.7 MW nominal capacity were installed in soundproof halls in both compressor stations.
The parties agreed that the new pipeline will be able to transmit gas to both directions, using the supply option from the LNG terminal to be implemented later.
The pipeline was built co-financed by the European Union. Costs of the investment in Hungary amounted to HUF 80 billion.
When the Agreement was signed, the Croatian electricity concern, Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP) expressed its interest in its Letter of Intent issued towards FGSZ Ltd. and Plinacro that it would use the new pipeline as a future shipper.
The Hungarian Croatian interconnector gas pipeline provides mutual benefits in the commercial area and security of supply, as well as offer opportunities for further development in both countries
The main figures of the project:
- design and licensing works started at the end of 2008
- implementation started on autumn in 2009
- technical takeover of compressors was in December 2010, than August 2011 the technical takeover of whole pipelineaccured.
- pipeline has been operation from 20th June 2011 after 180 days test operation
-
the lenght of domestic pipeline: 250 km
