FGSZ and Plinovodi sign a joint Letter of Intent on the construction of the Slovenian–Hungarian gas transmission pipeline
2026. 03. 19.
FGSZ Natural Gas Transmission Ltd. and the Slovenian transmission system operator, Plinovodi d.o.o., have signed a Letter of Intent regarding the establishment of a pipeline connecting the two countries.
Currently, Slovenia is the only neighbouring country without a direct natural gas pipeline connection with Hungary. In recent months, FGSZ and its Slovenian partner Plinovodi have been continuously consulting on the HU–SI project, which aims to create a new transmission pipeline connection, discussing the current conditions for the project’s feasibility.
Both FGSZ and Plinovodi welcome the joint declaration, as the plan to construct the pipeline between our countries is the result of a long negotiation process. With the support of both governments, the signing of the Letter of Intent confirms the parties’ commitment to establishing the Hungarian–Slovenian connection, which in the medium term also aims to create an Italy–Slovenia–Hungary gas corridor. The creation of the transmission pipeline will therefore contribute not only to domestic but also to regional supply security.
