Information about the latest modifications at the legislation (from 1st September, 2020) concerning capacity auctions

We hereby inform you in connection with the latest modifications at the legislation concerning capacity auctions, which will entry into force on the 1st of September, 2020.
Government Decree No. 401/2020. (VIII. 17.) amended the 15. Annex of the Government Decree No 19/2009. (I. 30.) on the implementation of the provisions laid down in Act XL of 2008 (Vhr), in which inter alia the start date of some yearly capacity auctions has been modified.
The annual yearly capacity auction of TSO domestic exit and production entry points for the gas year 2020/2021 was already announced in accordance with the publication deadline set in our Capacity Booking Platform Regulation and took place successfully on the 3rd of August 2020, according to the prevailing legislation of that time. Consequently, there will not be held another capacity auction for the same yearly capacity products again.
In order to avoid further misinterpretations we emphasize our aspect that the new deadlines set out in Annex 15 of Vhr can only be applied to those upcoming capacity auctions, which have not yet been held (such as the first quarterly capacity auction for the gas year 2020/2021). We will soon update the auction calendar for the gas year 2020/2021 accordingly.
