Preliminary information regarding the Csanádpalota RO>HU interconnection point
2026. 06. 05.
In line with the discussions held with the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (MEKH), we hereby inform the esteemed System Users as follows.
Technical capacity of the Csanádpalota RO>HU interconnection point (EIC: 21Z000000000236Q) may increase to 340,000 m³/h, depending also on Romanian-side investments, following the completion of an ongoing Hungarian development, expected by the end of this year the earliest. Subject to future decision by MEKH, the capacity may later increase to 500,000 m³/h after the implementation of the “Expansion of Csanádpalota International Metering Station” project (at the earliest 23 months after approval).
At the annual capacity auction to be held on 6 July 2026, FGSZ will offer capacity at the Csanádpalota RO>HU point in line with its newsletter of 6 March 2026, enabling the transmission of 320,000 m³/h of natural gas in both directions. Capacities up to the 340,000 m³/h level, previously approved by MEKH, will be offered after the completion of the related investment (installation of an additional compressor unit at the Csanádpalota compressor station). The related works are already underway and are expected to be completed by the end of this year. System Users will be informed in due course about the offering of additional capacities, which is also dependent on developments on the Romanian side.
Our plans also include the implementation of the project aimed at expanding the Csanádpalota international metering station, enabling an increase in capacity from 340,000 m³/h to 500,000 m³/h. This investment proposal is currently under consideration by MEKH within the framework of the Ten-Year Development Plan for 2026. Achieving the targeted capacity expansion also requires the implementation of the envisaged developments on the Romanian transmission system. The planned implementation timeline for the Hungarian-side investment is estimated at 23 months following approval.
