ENNOH starts with the participation of FGSZ
2024. 01. 25.
The founding of ENNOH (European Network of Network Operators for Hydrogen), a new EU-wide alliance to coordinate the planning, development, and operation of the EU's hydrogen infrastructure, was discussed by interested parties on 23 January 2024 in Brussels.
According to the forthcoming Hydrogen & Decarbonised Gas Package, by 1 September 2024, the hydrogen transmission operators shall submit to the Commission and ACER draft statutes, a list of members, and draft rules of procedure of the ENNOH to be established.
The market players involved in the H2 Projects of Common Interest (PCI) and The European Hydrogen Backbone, among them FGSZ, have for the first time discussed the establishment of the alliance and the next steps to be taken. With ENNOH, future hydrogen network operators (HTNOs) will start laying the foundations for an EU-wide cooperation to jointly develop the internal market and cross-border trade of hydrogen, as well as the optimal management, coordinated operation and reliable technical development of Europe's future hydrogen transport network.
The creation and operation of a hydrogen pipeline network ensuring adequate interconnection between Member States is a prerequisite for the viability of the European internal hydrogen market. The repurposing of existing natural gas infrastructure for hydrogen is the most cost-effective and most environmentally friendly solution, therefore natural gas transmission system operators are key players in the development and operation of future hydrogen networks.
FGSZ has invested considerable resources in recent years to establish the infrastructural conditions for domestic hydrogen transportation, for which our participation in ENNOH will be essential.
