FGSZ is again on the Board of ENTSOG

2020. 07. 01.

As of 1 July 2020, the organization of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) elected Szabolcs I. Ferencz, Chairman-CEO of FGSZ Ltd., as a member of its Board of Directors for a three-year term.

FGSZ has been participating in the work of the European umbrella organization of transmission system operators (ENTSOG) since its establishment in 2009, also representing the interests of Hungary in the development of European legislation and policies affecting gas markets and their future transition. The organization was established on the legal basis of the EU's Third Energy Package. Its primary objective is to support the completion of the European internal gas market and, in line with the EU’s energy and climate objectives, to facilitate cross-border trade in natural gas through continuous development of the European gas transmission network.

FGSZ actively participates in ENTSOG projects related to its activity, such as in the development of consolidated European network codes and the compilation and regular updating of the 10-year network development plans, as set out in the law. ENTSOG membership includes 44 transmission system operators. After 2017, FGSZ will again join the work of the currently 12-member Board of Directors – this time through its Chairman-CEO, Mr. Szabolcs I. Ferencz.

“It is a great honor for me to personally represent our company and Hungary in the professional organization of European gas transmission. The work of ENTSOG over the last decade has been paramount in strengthening the integration of the European internal gas market. Market integration has been a clear priority for the Central and Eastern European region, where security of gas supply improved significantly during this period. As far as today's challenges are concerned, the gas industry and gas transmission infrastructure operators will certainly see an exciting time ahead having to deal with the ever-changing and greening energy markets, with the integration of new alternative gas sources into the existing infrastructure, while also tackling the effects of the coronavirus. These are all expected to be key issues in the transformation of European energy markets, and I hope that within ENTSOG we will be able to find effective solutions to both short- and long-term challenges. Given the opportunities provided by ENTSOG, it is my intention to represent the importance of the long-term role of the natural gas industry and in particular that of the gas infrastructure in the transition towards a low-carbon economy.
