Information regarding the Csanádpalota RO>HU interconnection point

2026. 11. 06.

With reference to our company's newsletter published on 5 June 2026, we hereby inform the esteemed network users as follows.

In its Decision No H2740/2026 on the “Approval of the 2026 Ten-Year Network Development Proposal” (only in Hungarian), the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority (hereinafter referred to as MEKH) approved the implementation of the “Expansion of Csanádpalota International Metering Station” project, enabling the capacity on the Hungarian side of the Csanádpalota interconnection point to be increased from 340,000 m3/h to 500,000 m3/h.

In its above-mentioned Decision, MEKH required our company to prepare an application to amend its operating licence and to develop the rules for the competing capacity auction required for the approval of that application, in accordance with the applicable legislation, in particular Regulation (EU) 2017/459 and Regulation (EU) No 1227/2011. MEKH also required our company to initiate the incorporation of these rules into the Capacity Booking Platform Regulation, the Operation and Business Code of the Hungarian Natural Gas System and the Business Code of our company, and to submit the amended codes and rules for approval prior to implementation of the “Expansion of Csanádpalota International Metering Station” project. Our Company has begun fulfilling the obligations imposed by MEKH, and we will continue to keep network users informed about the progress.

Please note that achieving the targeted capacity increase remains dependent on the implementation of the planned developments on the Romanian transmission system.
